Balasore: In a tragic incident, two minor girls drowned in a pond at Panisapada village under Basta police limits in Balasore district on Friday.
According to reports, the girls, aged 3 and 5 years, drowned while collecting paper boats that had been floated in the pond by villagers as part of Kartik Purnima celebrations early in the morning. The young friends were playing near the pond close to their homes when the mishap occurred.
Despite being rescued by villagers and rushed to the hospital, the girls could not be saved. Doctors pronounced them dead upon arrival.
