Ganjam: In a tragic incident, two minor girls drowned while bathing in a village pond at Sindurpur village in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Sunday afternoon.

According to reports, Salini (5), daughter of Satya Naik of Sindurpur village, and Tutsi (6), daughter of Balaram Dakua, went to bathe in the village pond. While others returned a while later, Tutsi and Shalini did not come home. Worried, the family members of the two girls searched for them everywhere in the village but did not find them.

Sometime later, search parties went to the village pond, they saw the girls’ clothes on the ground. The villagers immediately informed the Sankhemundi Fire Services department and the girls’ bodies were fished out of the pond after an hour’s search.

Patpur police registered a case of unnatural deaths and sent the bodies for post-mortem.
