Bhubaneswar: Two minor girls, aged about 12 and 14 years respectively have been gang raped by two miscreants at Patia railway station on Monday night. Bhubaneswar Childline reported the matter to Infocity Police and rescued both children.

“As described by the survivors, they live with their family in Patia area. The girls are under trauma. They will need counselling and the Child Welfare Committee is closely monitoring the situation,” Director, Childline, Benudhar Senapati said.

“Last evening, both of them went to Patia railway station when two boys of this area kidnapped them and took them to the railway overbridge. They tied them up with a rope and raped them for the whole night. The victim girls were crying and writhing in pain but they were threatened to be killed,” he added.

Today morning the girls were released and on reaching home they shared the ordeal with their parents. The miscreants even offered money to keep the matter under wraps, reports stated.

Infocity Police, Childline officials, and Government Railway Police (GRP) reached the spot today evening with the victims and started a probe. An FIR has been registered by the GRP in this connection. Meanwhile, the accused are on the run.
