Koraput: Two minor siblings met a watery grave on Friday morning while bathing in a pond in Pipalpur village under Lamtaput block of Odisha’s Koraput district.
The victims have been identified as Jinu Ladanaik’s 5-year-old son Yogesh and 10-year-old daughter Satathi.
According to reports, the siblings were taking a bath in the village pond when they slipped into deep water. As no one was around the pond at the time of the incident, the minor siblings drowned without any help.
Their father Jinu had gone out to work and when the children did not return even after a long time, Jinu started searching for them, but could not trace their whereabouts. Later, local people saw the two children floating in the pond and brought them out.
By the time, they were taken out of the pond, the children were already dead. A pall of gloom descended on the village as the news of their death spread.
On being informed, police reached the village, sent the bodies for post-mortem, and started an investigation into the incident.
