Dhenkanal: In a shocking incident, two minor boys aged 5 and 7 yrs drowned in a river on Wednesday evening in Dhenkanal district. This incident occurred in Rainarsinghpur village under Dumusingha police limits. A pall of gloom has descended in the village following these casualties.

Five-year-old Rudra Dehuri, son of Hatibandhu Dehuri and seven-year-old Malay Dehuri, son of Karna Dehuri had gone out for nature' s call in the evening near the river where they slipped and got drowned.

A woman from the village noticed and raised alarm. Both the kids were rescued and rushed to the DHH but the doctors declared them brought dead.

"The level of river has been swollen due to the continuous rains. And the water current is also strong which resulted in their death," informed a villager.

Incidentally, Malay had come to his maternal uncle's place to attend a death ceremony in that village,
