Bhubaneswar: A two-month-old infant reportedly sustained severe burns after accidentally falling into a burning hearth in Chalanti village under Jaleswar police station limits in Balasore district. The baby, being held by her mother near the fire, fell into the burning embers due to alleged negligence.

According to reports, the family of Taran Hembram had lit a fire to ward off the cold, and the baby was being held by her mother near the embers. In a split second, the infant fell into the burning hearth, getting more than half of her body burnt.

Subsequently, family members recued the child out of the fire and rushed the child to Basta Hospital for treatment. However, doctors referred the baby to District Headquarters Hospital in Balasore for advanced treatment.
