Balasore: The Sadar police here on Friday arrested two more persons for their alleged involvement in the murder of one Binod Bihari Das in October, 2021 at Kuruda chowk here.
The arrested duo was identified as Sanjay Sethi of Bhaskarganj and Manoj Lenka of Telengasahi in Balasore. The police had named 30 persons in the FIR out of which 24 (including these two) have been arrested so far.
Binod alias Binu was brutally murdered because of an old rivalry between two gangs headed by Chinmay Panda alias Papa and Animesh Ghosh & Kartika Das.
“Sethi was having active role in calling Binu from Bangalore to Balasore using his wife. He had also fired at the deceased while he was on his motorcycle on the fateful day. Lenka had hacked the victim with a sharp weapon,” SP Sagarika Nath said.
The two gangs are involved in extortion from businessmen, land mafias, illegal sand / stone mines mafias, escorting illegal cattle traders, and controlling the hawkers on railway platforms.
“There are multiple cases against the members of both the gangs in connection with gang war leading to assault/murder/attempt to murder between both the groups, the police stated,” Nath added.
