Bhubaneswar: The number of individuals accused in the murder of a youth near Rasulgarh Square in Bhubaneswar has increased to five, following the arrest of two more suspects.

This was informed by Bhubaneswar’s Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Pinak Mishra, on Thursday.

The victim was identified as police volunteer Sahadeb Nayak (36).

The arrested individuals were identified as Lucky alias Laxmi Naik and Rakesh Naik alias Anda, residents of Kedarpalli.

During a press conference, DCP Mishra explained that a special team was formed due to the seriousness of the crime.

“We immediately formed three special teams, and our primary focus was to apprehend the accused. Through the investigation, we identified the vehicles used in the crime and successfully tracked down the accused. We first arrested two suspects and later apprehended the remaining three near Nayagarh. In total, five individuals have been arrested and taken to court,” he said.

Mishra further added that the investigation is still in its early stages and that more arrests are expected as the involvement of additional individuals is still under review.

The police also seized several items related to the crime. “We have seized two motorcycles, two bloodstained swords used in the murder, four mobile phones belonging to the accused, bloodstained clothing of the accused, and two bags. These items are crucial to the investigation,” said the DCP.

The case remains open and further developments are anticipated as the investigation continues.
