Bhubaneswar: Another Odia fisherman, who was injured in a gas leak fire near Puthiyangadi harbour in Kerala, succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday. Behra, 38, was a native of Odisha and was undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit of the Government Medical College Hospital.

This is the second death due to the incident, which occurred last Friday. Subhash Behra, 53, also from Odisha, had died earlier due to severe burn injuries. Two other fishermen, Shibha Behra and Jitendra Behra, are still battling for their lives in the hospital.

The two deceased Odia fishermen are residents of Balipatpur village of Tangi police station in Khurda district. Subash died yesterday while Nigam Behera died in the early hours of today.

The accident occurred when four fishermen sustained severe burns while cooking due to a gas leak. The police investigation revealed that the workers had forgotten to turn off the cylinder valve and stove, leading to the accumulation of gas in the room. A spark from a lighter ignited the gas, causing the blaze.

The fire and rescue personnel, along with locals, rushed the injured to the hospital, where they received treatment.
