Bhubaneswar: Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar districts will receive heavy rainfall today, predicted Meteorological Centre of Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the weather office has issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms with lightning to 14 districts. Besides, thunderstorms with lightning accompanied by gusty wind speeds reaching 30-40 kmph are likely to affect some places in the state.
On Friday, the regional weather office confirmed the onset of the southwest monsoon in 24 districts.
“Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of Odisha and covered #24districts namely; Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Nayagarh, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Bolangir, Boudh, Sonepur, Bargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Khordha, Cuttack, Jgatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Deogarh, more parts of four districts; Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Balasore and some parts of the districts Sundargarh and Mayurbhanj”, tweeted weather department.
The southwest monsoon is yet to advance into six districts including Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Balasore, Sundargarh and Mayurbhanj.
Going by the latest prediction of the regional weather office, conditions are favourable for the further advance of the southwest monsoon into six districts.
