Bhubaneswar: Two labourers from Odisha were among the three persons killed in the accident at the Patna Metro construction site on Tuesday night. Moreover, six labourers from the state sustained injuries in the accident.

According to reports, the accident occurred when a loco pickup malfunctioned and ran over several workers. Officials said that the toll could have been much higher had the mishap happened during daytime. About 25 workers were on-site at the time of the accident last night.

Talking to the media on Wednesday, Odisha Labour Minister Ganesh Ram Singkhuntia, said, “This is very unfortunate. I just received the news, and the Odisha government will give them compensation…We will talk to the Bihar government.”

Patna DM Chandrasekhar told reporters that three workers, including a pilot, were killed in the accident. Five injured workers are undergoing treatment at the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH).
