Bhubaneswar: Two passengers sustained critical injuries after being hit by a Mo Bus in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.
Ranjit Behera and Hrudananda Mohanty were taking shelter under the bus due to the hot weather conditions. The driver, unaware of their presence, started the vehicle and moved forward slowly. Alert passengers shouted at the driver, who suddenly applied the brakes and reversed the vehicle.
In the accident, Ranjit Behera suffered injuries to his right leg, while Hrudananda Mohanty sustained injuries to his shoulder and waist. Both were rushed to Capital Hospital for treatment.
The Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT), which operates the Mo Bus services, expressed regret over the incident and took immediate action against the driver and guide.
“Had the driver and guide been alert and careful, they could have avoided the incident. Both crew members have been terminated with immediate effect,” CRUT stated.
CRUT also said that it is reinforcing awareness and implementing preventive measures to avoid similar incidents in the future.
