Bhubaneswar: Nandankanan police arrested two persons on charges of assaulting and misbehaving with the officials of Nandankanan Zoological Park last night.
According to sources, two miscreants barged into the zoo office and vandalized the office furniture apart from attacking and misbehaving with assistant zoologist, Dr Rajesh Mohapatra, ACF Dr Sudipta Kumar Panda and Dr Rashmi Ranjan Swain.
Soon after the incident, police lodged a case and launched a manhunt to nab the miscreants who hail from Daruthenga village. They were reportedly hiding in a nearby forest after vandalizing office equipment including computers, laptops, printer machines and television sets and assaulting the officers. The miscreants also damaged the laptop and mobile phone of the audit officer.
The entire act was captured in the CCTV camera installed at the office which helped the police to identify the miscreants and nab them.
It is learnt from police sources that many cases have been pending against the accused at various police stations in Bhubaneswar.
