Rourkela: Two members of the People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI), a Maoist outfit active in Jharkhand and neighbouring states, were arrested by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) from Rourkela Railway Station on Thursday morning.
According to sources, the two accused are residents of the Latehar district in Jharkhand. They were travelling by train from Dhanbad to Jharsuguda when RPF personnel intercepted them around 9 AM and detained them from one of the coaches. Both were subsequently taken to the Rourkela RPF police station for further questioning.
A team from Rourkela police soon reached the RPF station and began interrogating the duo. Preliminary investigation revealed that the two were allegedly involved in an incident of firing at a coal siding near Tori Railway Station under Chandwa police limits in Latehar district on the night of October 5.
The arrest followed a tip-off from Dhanbad SP Prabhat Kumar, who had alerted RPF authorities about the movement of the suspects. Both arrested individuals are currently in RPF custody, and further investigation is underway.
