Baripada: A forest department team in Similipal National Park arrested two poachers following an alert from an AI camera installed in the buffer area of the park.

The poachers are Gopal Soren alias Banamali and Mandal Sing, both residents of Mayurbhanj district.

During the arrest, authorities seized one handmade gun and explosives from the possession of the poachers. A case has been registered at Dukura Wildlife Range, and the accused have been forwarded to the Court of CJM, Baripada for judicial custody.

The action by the park staff thwarted a poaching incident. Further investigation into the case is underway.
