Malkangiri: Two students of Kolagonda Ashram School in Podia block of Malkangiri have died of illness in the last three days while 12 others are undergoing treatment at the district headquarters hospital.
The doctor treating the children said that a few of them are suffering from cold and fever but their condition is stable.
The school headmaster said that a class 7 student died at the hospital on Monday, while a class 8 student died at home yesterday.
The District Welfare Officer has informed that the students died after their legs and hands started to swell.
The families complained that the school authorities neglected the treatment after the students fell ill.
While contaminated water is suspected to be the reason behind the illness, blood samples of the children will be collected today to ascertain the matter.
