Two School Students Drown While Bathing In Baitarani River In Keonjhar

Bhubaneswar: In a devastating incident, two school students drowned in Keshari Kunda of the Sarai Baitarani River near Joda in Keonjhar district.

The deceased have been identified as Nitesh Poddar and Pritam Mahant. One of them is a Class 10 student of a private English medium school in Champua.

According to reports, eight students had gone to the river to bathe due to the hot summer. Three of them, including Nitesh and Pritam, were swept away. Despite the efforts of others, the two students couldn’t be saved. They were later rescued and taken to the Champua Community Health Centre, where the doctor declared them dead.

The incident has sent shockwaves in the locality. The police have registered a case and begun further investigation. The students were reportedly studying in a private hostel in Champua and had gone to the river to enjoya  bath in the heat.
