Puri: Two ‘bojhia sevayats’ (carrier servitors) of the Shree Jagannath Temple today sustained burns after piping hot dal (one of the 56 items offered to Lord Jagannath as Mahaprasad) they were carrying spilled on them.
The injured bojhia sevayats have been identified as Pupi Pradhan (30) of Talajanga and Pradip Sahu (35) of Brahmagiri, reports said.
They have been admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) here.
Reports said that the accident occurred in the afternoon today when they slipped and fell while ferrying Mahaprasad (hot dal) from the Bhogamandap of the Shree Jagannath Temple.
Their health condition is stated to be stable, the reports added.
It is pertinent to mention here that similar accidents have become a new norm in Shree Jagannath Temple premises due to the heavy footfall of devotees at the shrine over the last few months.
