Cuttack: Two students sustained critical injuries after a ceiling fan fell on them inside a classroom while they were appearing for an examination at Gopabandhu Science Higher Secondary School in the Athagarh area of Odisha’s Cuttack district on Tuesday.
The injured students are Sameer Sethi and Tapas Jena.
According to reports, the incident took place when the students of Plus II were writing an examination this morning. The ceiling fan suddenly fell on two students, causing grave injuries. However, no other student was injured in the incident.
The injured students were rescued by the college staff and rushed to a nearby hospital where their condition is stated to be critical.
Describing the incident as unfortunate, the principal of the high school, Dr Loknath Sahu said that they are looking into the circumstances that led to such a freak accident. “The incident has brought disrepute to our institution and we are determined to take action against anyone who is found guilty of the accident,” he said.
