Nabarangpur: Police arrested two teachers of an Ashram school on Friday for allegedly raping a Class VI girl of the same school in Kundei police station area of Nabarangpur.
The accused teachers, headmaster Suchandra Viswas and assistant teacher Keshav Majhi have been sent to judicial custody after their bail applications were rejected by Nabarangpur special POCSO court.
On the other hand, police recorded the statement of the girl who was undergoing treatment at district headquarters hospital.
The teacher duo allegedly raped the minor girl on November 7. The matter came to light on Thursday after the victim revealed her ordeal to medical staff.
As the girl was experiencing excruciating pain after the incident, her family took her to a medical center in Umerkot. As the pain did not subside, her parents took her to Nabarangpur District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), where she revealed that she was raped by the headmaster and an assistant teacher inside the school toilet.
Later, the victim’s parents lodged a complaint at the Kundei police station. Acting on the complaint, police registered a case against the two accused under various Sections of IPC and the POCSO Act.
