Balasore: In a tragic incident, two teenagers from Kurunia village under Bahanaga block in Balasore district lost their lives on Wednesday when the tractor they were travelling on overturned.
The deceased have been identified as Satyajit Mallick (15) and Dinesh Panigrahi (14). The mishap occurred around 4 PM in Nilakanthapur village, located near their native village.
According to reports, Satyajit, son of Shashikant Mallick, and Dinesh, son of Dillip Panigrahi, were on their way to Nilakanthapur on a tractor for some work. While navigating a stretch of road near a pond, the tractor lost balance and veered into the water, overturning in the process. The two boys became trapped beneath the vehicle.
Locals rushed to the spot, pulled the boys from under the overturned tractor, and took them to the Gopalpur Community Health Centre (CHC). However, doctors at the CHC declared both of them dead on arrival. The CHC authorities promptly informed the Gopalpur police.
Police have visited the accident site and launched an investigation. An unnatural death case has been registered, and the bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.
Satyajit had recently appeared for his matriculation examination, while Dinesh was a Class 10 student at Talakurunia High School.
