Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance sleuths arrested two Textile Inspectors, Krushna Chandra Sahu and Adit Kumar Das, posted in the office of Assistant Director of Textile in Boudh district, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 each from a complainant.
The complainant, a functionary of a weavers cooperative society at Bounsuni in Boudh had approached the inspectors to process a file and facilitate the release of a bill from the BCCB Bank in Boudh towards the supply of weaving material (sarees).
The entire bribe money has been recovered from the possession of the accused inspectors and seized. Following the trap, simultaneous searches are being conducted at two locations of each inspector from a disproportionate assets (DA) angle.
Berhampur vigilance wing has registered a case under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. The investigation is currently underway against both accused inspectors.
