Bhadrak: In a heartbreaking incident, two kids drowned in a pond at Shinipur village under Sahapur Panchayat in the Pirahat Police Station area on Monday. The tragedy unfolded while puja was underway at a home in the village, and family members were occupied with preparations and household activities.
According to sources, the children were playing near a pond adjacent to the courtyard when they accidentally slipped and fell into the water. When the family realised the children were missing, they began searching frantically. The two were eventually found floating in the pond and were immediately pulled out.
Both children were rushed to Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital, but doctors declared them dead on arrival.
The deceased have been identified as 4-year-old Himanshu Sahu, son of Jayanta Sahu, who had come to his maternal uncle’s house on a visit, and 3-year-old Ananta Barik, son of Bulu Barik of Shinipur village.
The tragic loss of the two children has plunged the entire village into deep sorrow, with grief-stricken relatives and neighbours mourning the incident.
