Balasore: A leisure trip turned tragic for a group of tourists at Digha in neighbouring West Bengal, near Balasore, when two people were swept away by rough seas on Thursday. Local police and residents managed to rescue one of them, who has been admitted to a nearby medical facility, but the other remains missing.
According to eyewitnesses, the tourists were bathing in the sea when the waters suddenly turned turbulent. The strong current pulled two of them away from the shore. Locals and police personnel present at the spot launched a rescue operation, managing to save one person after considerable effort.
Despite an hour-long search, the second tourist could not be located. The identities of both individuals are yet to be ascertained, and search efforts are continuing.
