Jharsuguda: Two residents of Uttar Pradesh have been arrested by Jharsuguda Police for running a fake placement agency and duping aspirants of various districts on the pretext of providing them jobs.
They have been identified as Basant Lal and Mohammed Aslam.
Jharsuguda SP Rahul Jain informed that the two were running the agency for the last one month. They had lured job aspirants from remote areas of Bargarh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, and Deogarh districts by circulating leaflets and pamphlets and had collected registration fees from the job aspirants.
After a complaint in this regard was filed at Jharsuguda Police Station, the two accused persons were arrested. Police have seized Rs 20,000 cash, four mobile phones, fake documents, fake IDs, fake offer letters, banners, and advertisements.
During the investigation, it was revealed that they were operating both in and outside Odisha. They have reportedly duped over 150 job aspirants till date.
