Two Women Die Of Snakebite In Mayurbhanj

Mayurbhanj: Two women died after being bitten by poisonous snakes in two separate incidents in Mayurbhanj district. The incidents occurred under Udala and Kaptipada police stations on Saturday.

In the first incident, Jayanti Behera, a resident of Golagadia village under Kaptipada police station, died after being bitten by a snake at her home.

According to reports, Jayanti was bitten by a venomous snake while sleeping at home late at night. Despite being rushed to Udala Hospital and later referred to a hospital in Baripada, she succumbed to her injuries.

In the second incident, Sukanti Baske, a resident of Mauda village under Udala police station, died after being bitten by a venomous snake while collecting firewood for cooking. The snake, hiding among the wood logs, bit Sukanti as she searched for the wood. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she died while undergoing treatment.
