Koraput: Two women were killed due to a lightning strike here on Wednesday. The mishap took place in Patraguda village in Batasana Panchayat under Kotpad block.
The deceased were identified as Kamala Samarth (29) and Daimati Samarth (30). The women were sisters-in-law, married in the same family.
A pall of gloom descended on the village following the death of two daughters-in-law of the same family. Local leaders, including Sarpanch, and former MLAs rushed to the spot.
Police have registered a case and sent the bodies for autopsy.
