Bhubaneswar: A former pharmacist at the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Gurundia and currently posted at Khairtola PHC under Hatibari CHC in Sundargarh district, has been convicted and sentenced to two years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs. 10,000 in a corruption case.
The conviction stems from a case registered under sections 13(2) read with 13(1) (d)/7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Pharmacist Sanat Kumar Mohanty, was found guilty of demanding and accepting a bribe from a complainant in exchange for providing better medicines to his mother.
The Special Judge, Vigilance, Sundargarh, delivered the verdict, holding Mohanty accountable for his corrupt actions. Following the conviction, the Odisha Vigilance will initiate proceedings to dismiss Mohanty from service, citing his conviction as grounds for termination.
