Two Young Men Drown While Attending Grandpa’s ‘Dasaha Karma’ In Balasore

Balasore: In a tragic incident, two youths drowned to death in a stone quarry today while taking bath after tonsuring their heads as part of the ‘dasaha karma’ (tenth day ritual after death of person of Hindu origin) of their grandfather at Wada village under Soro block in Balasore district.

The deceased persons have been identified as Susanta Padhi (26) and Chandan Kar (29).

According to reports, Susanta and Chandan were rescued by locals from the quarry and rushed to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Soro. However, they were declared dead by the attending doctors.

Soro police have registered two separate cases and launched an investigation into the incident. Police have handed over the bodies to the respective families after post-mortem
