Nabarangpur: In a tragic incident, two youths died in a head-on collision between two bikes near Janiguda road in Nabarangpur.
The deceased are Purna Majhi (23) and Hemant Vanua (22), both residents of Chittakot village. Another person, Sandeep Kumar Bhatra (21) from Pujari Guda village, has been seriously injured in the accident.
According to reports, Purna Majhi was working as a wall operator in the mega water supply project. On the fateful day, he was riding his bike to Anchulagumma after lunch at a hotel in Tentilikhunti village, with Hemant Vanua as his pillion rider. Meanwhile, Sandeep Kumar Bhatra was travelling in the opposite direction on another bike, which collided with Purna’s bike.
The impact of the collision was severe, causing both Purna and Hemant to fall onto the road. Purna succumbed to his injuries on the spot, while Hemant died shortly after being admitted to Tentilikhunti hospital. Sandeep, who was also critically injured, was initially treated at Tentilikhunti Hospital and later transferred to Nabarangpur District Headquarters Hospital.
Tentilikhunti ASI Bharat Majhi has taken charge of the investigation, and a case has been filed at Tentilikhunti police station. The police have seized both bikes involved in the accident and will hand over the bodies to the family members after post-mortem.
