Sambalpur: Two youths who were caught stealing a tractor battery were tied and thrashed by villagers at Gulunda village under Dhama police limits of Sambalpur district on Thursday.
Reportedly, the villagers had nabbed the two last night and instead of handing them over to the police, they tied their hands, garlanded them with slippers, tonsured half of their heads, paraded them around the village, and thrashed them.
On getting information, Dhama Police reached the village and rescued the two. They were detained at the police station and a further probe into the matter was initiated.
