Baripada: The Similipal Tiger Reserve’s Upper Baraha Kamuda (UBK) area has recorded a chilling 0°C, indicating a severe cold wave in Odisha.
The harsh weather conditions have disrupted daily life, with residents of Similipal’s surrounding areas struggling to cope with the freezing temperatures.
Other areas in the region are also experiencing freezing temperatures, with Chahala at 4°C, Nawana at 4°C, Barehipani at 5°C, Gurguria at 3°C, and Ramatirtha, Kiajhari, and Satkosia at 11°C each.
The Similipal Tiger Reserve authorities have confirmed these temperature readings.
According to the India Meteorological Department, the western disturbance is expected to intensify its grip on Odisha, bringing relief from the cold wave. As the disturbance gathers strength, night temperatures are likely to rise, making the nights relatively warmer.
