Balasore: Saswat Kumar Panda, a medical student who has returned from Ukraine 11 days after the outbreak of the Russian invasion, has raised concern about the future of his and others who had to abandon their studies.
Panda was pursuing his 2nd-year MBBS at Kharkiv National Medical University. After the Russian military operation against Ukraine, he and many of his friends had to stay hidden in bunkers.
They somehow managed to reach Lviv by covering over 14 kilometers on foot and the remaining by train. From there they had to walk for four more kilometers and catch a bus to Poland from where they were brought to India through a special flight under Operation Ganga.
Panda said he was happy to have returned home from Ukraine. But he was worried about his and the future of other students. He appealed to the Central and State governments to help them secure their future.
