Umerkote: Forest department staff on Monday rescued 119 turtles from a person who was illegally trafficking those from Kalahandi district to Raighar in Nabarangpur district. The accused identified as Rajesh Das has been arrested by the Forest Department.
Forest Department staff during routine patrolling intercepted accused Rajesh Das who was travelling on a motorcycle near Nuaguda Chhak here which led to the seizure.
“A patrolling team of our department today morning intercepted the accused which led to the seizure of 119 turtles. We have arrested the accused identified as Rajesh Das. A health check-up of the rescued turtles is being conducted,” informed Anup Singh Pujari, Umerkote Forest Range Officer.
