Umerkote (Nabarangpur): A girl student of the Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) here allegedly committed suicide. Her body was found hanging in her hostel room today morning.
The deceased has been identified as Nageswari Gond (20).
She hailed from Salebhata village of Raighar block in Nabarangpur district and was a student in her second year in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning trade.
According to reports, Nageswari was staying in room no.2 of the hostel along with two other co-boarders.
On Wednesday night, the other two co-boarders had shifted to another room in the hostel for studying.
In the morning when the matron and hostel in charge knocked on the door of Nageswari’s hostel room, she did not respond.
Through a window, they saw her hanging from the ceiling inside the room. Immediately they informed the matter to the Principal of the ITI Rabindra Kumar Kar who reported in writing at the Umerkote police station.
Umerkote IIC and local tahsildar on reaching the spot broke open the door of Nageswari’s room and found her hanging from the ceiling hook using her odhani.
Police after recovering Nageswari’s body sent it for post-mortem to the Community Health Centre (CHC) here.
After the autopsy, the police handed over Nageswari’s body to her family members.
However, the reason behind Nageswari taking the extreme step has not been ascertained.
Police have launched an investigation and have questioned the deceased’s two co-boarders in this connection.
