Bhubaneswar: The heat wave sweeping across Odisha is showing no signs of abating. This is evident from the fact that while Jharsuguda recorded 34°C by 8.30 am on Thursday, the temperature at Keonjhar was 33.6°C at that time.
The temperature recorded in Bhubaneswar was 31.4°C by 8.30 this morning.
However, the regional office of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast thunderstorms and light rain in some parts of Odisha on April 21. This would bring some relief to people who are reeling under the severe summer heat.
Meanwhile, it is worth mentioning here that 30 places in Odisha on Wednesday recorded a maximum temperature of 40°C or above. As per the IMD data, Baripada recorded the highest maximum temperature of 44.5°C, which is at least 6.4°C above normal.
Nuapada was the second hottest place in the state at 44.4°C, followed by Balangir (44.0°C). The maximum temperature was above 43°C – Boudh, Talcher, Angul, Jharsuguda, Rourkela, Sambalpur, Titlagarh, and Sundargarh.
