Bhubaneswar: Unable to bear the grief of his wife’s untimely death, a man committed suicide in Odisha’s Bolangir district on Monday morning.
According to reports, the man, identified as Godhan Mallik, was under stress following the death of his wife Chandrakala who succumbed to a kidney ailment for a long time. He hanged himself with the help of a gamcha (towel) from a tree in his farmland.
The tragic incident has been reported from Dabri village under Kantabanji police station limits in Bolangir district.
Godhan was taking care of his wife day in and out and when she breathed her last on Sunday, Godhan was unable to bear the loss. He reportedly lost his mental composure and decided to end his life. Early on Monday morning, he went to his own field and hanged himself.
Local villagers spotted the body of Godhan Mallik hanging from the tree and informed the Kantabanji police. The police reached the spot and launched an investigation into the matter.
