Bhubaneswar: Tension ran high at the Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar after a suspicious, unclaimed bag was found on the terminal premises.
As per reports, airport security forces swiftly responded to the incident, deploying the bomb disposal squad and dog squad to investigate the unattended luggage.
Airport staff immediately alerted the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which cordoned off the area and evacuated nearby passengers as a precaution after spotting the bag in a public area. The bomb squad and dog squad then conducted a thorough examination of the bag using advanced equipment and trained canines to detect any potential threats. However, after a thorough investigation, the squad officials found no explosives in the suspicious bag discovered at the airport in Bhubaneswar.
The suspicious bag found at the airport was later claimed by a female passenger who had arrived from Hyderabad. She had left the bag behind and returned to the airport to retrieve it. The bag contained harmless items like diapers and a mobile charger. After verifying her credentials and travel history, security personnel allowed her relative to take the bag, said sources.
The incident was resolved without any issues, and airport operations returned to normal.
