Bhubaneswar: An undertrial prisoner died at Kodala sub-jail in Ganjam district a day after being forwarded to jail over alleged involvement in illegal drug trade.
Lingaraj Patra, 62, was arrested on Tuesday with 450 grams of opium by excise officials during a routine patrol at Beguniapada. Patra fell ill in jail and was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
According to reports, Patra died on the way to the hospital. The police have seized his body for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death
