Bhubaneswar: Vigilance raids on properties linked to Prasanna Kumar Swain, Assistant Engineer (Civil) of the Bhanjanagar irrigation division in Ganjam district, has uncovered assets worth approximately Rs. 2.4 crore, including six multi-storeyed buildings and five high-value plots.
The searches, conducted by the Vigilance Technical Wing, have so far revealed:
– A four-storeyed palatial building in Berhampur worth Rs. 2.4 crore
– Five other multi-storeyed buildings in Bhanjanagar and Berhampur
– Five high-value plots in Berhampur and Bhanjanagar
– Bank deposits and other investments worth around Rs. 11.5 lakh
– Two two-wheelers
The assets are in the name of Swain and his family members. The valuation and assessment of the properties are still being carried out.
The vigilance team is continuing its searches and further updates are expected. The raid is part of an ongoing investigation into allegations of disproportionate assets against Swain.
Initially appointed as a contractual Junior Engineer on October 15, 2003, Swain was posted to the Lower Indra Canal division in Khariar, where he spent seven years honing his skills.
In 2010, Swain was transferred to his home district, taking up a role in the Irrigation Division, Bhanjanagar, Ganjam. This move marked the beginning of 14-year tenure. Swain was promoted to the rank of Assistant Engineer in the year 2013
