Bhubaneswar: A 27-year-old undertrial prisoner died while undergoing treatment at Sundargarh Government Medical College Hospital on Thursday night.
The deceased has been identified as Saroj Rout alias Bana.
As per reports, Saroj, a resident of Barpali village under Hemagiri police station, was arrested in a murder case and was being held in the district jail.
He was admitted to the hospital on February 11 after falling ill.
Meanwhile, Sundargarh Town police have seized the body and registered an unnatural death case. Police also sent the body for post-mortem to the District Headquarters Hospital.
It is pertinent to mention police had arrested Saroj and three others on January 9 in connection with Satyaram’s murder in Hemagiri police jurisdiction. The court rejected their bail pleas and sent them to district jail for judicial custody.
