Ungrateful Payback: Odisha CM Helped Save Balgopal’s Life But He Hurled Back Eggs In Return

Bhubaneswar: 78-year-old Balgopal Mishra was held by the cops on Monday night in connection with hurling eggs at Odisha Chief Minister and supremo of ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Naveen Patnaik’s cavalcade in Bolangir. While people across the State agree to the fact that this was a despicable act, the back story behind the politicians relationship throws light on a sad ungrateful reality.

Coming to his personal life, Balagopal Mishra had been keeping unwell over the last few years. According to sources, once his health deteriorated to such an extent condition that advanced medical intervention became an immediate requirement. While the clock ticked away, there wasn’t enough time to rush him to New Delhi. The only way possible was an air ambulance. At this time, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had come to his rescue. On being intimated, he had immediately sent an air ambulance that rushed Mishra to New Delhi.

Born November 5, 1941, Balagopal Mishra is a powerful politician who commands authority and respect from the people in Bolangir. In 1989, he was the Member of Parliament from Bolangir Lok Sabha seat with a Janata Dal ticket. Apart from that, Mishra has also been elected from Loisingha Assembly seat four times- thrice (1980, 1985, 1995) as Independent candidate and in 2000 as Bharatiya Janata Party’s candidate. He was also in good terms with Biju Patnaik, a visionary statesman and former Odisha Chief Minister.

After being taken care of, Mishra returned to Odisha fit and fine only to ungratefully payback the man who had helped save his life. On Monday evening, Mishra and his son hurled eggs targeting CM’s carcade. Even though Naveen Patnaik’s vehicle was not hit, the thought behind the act shows the true colors of a man, who does not appreciate the thankless act done by others.
