Sundargarh: An unidentified wild animal attacked several people in Salangabud under Sundargarh forest limits late on Saturday night.
The aforementioned animal intruded into houses and attacked locals who were in deep sleep. Around 15 people sustained were attacked out of which three sustained very serious injuries.
An elderly woman, Gurbari Priseth has been shifted to VSS Medical College and Hospital in Burla as her condition deteriorated. The other two persons are undergoing treatment at the district headquarters hospital.
On being informed, a team of the forest department rushed to Salangabuda to take stock of the situation. Sources said, the animal is likely to be an insane fox that is entering houses at night in search of food.
The terrorised villagers stayed awake last night while the forest personnel have mounted vigilance to trap the unidentified animal and release it into the wilds.
