Bhubaneswar: A half-burnt, unidentified body was found at the weekly market of Kendujiani in Mayurbhanj district, on Tuesday morning.

According to eyewitnesses, the half-burnt body was found lying in the weekly market area making it difficult for the local traders to identify the deceased.

On information, Thakurmunda police station reached the spot and launched an investigation into the matter. Meanwhile, a scientific team from Baripada has been summoned to assist in the probe. The body will be sent for post-mortem examination after the scientific team completes its investigation.

Police suspect that the person might have been murdered elsewhere and then dumped in the market where the body was set afire.

As a result, the person’s identity and hometown remain unclear. The police are investigating the matter, but no concrete leads have been found so far.
