Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, a man jumped from Chanborpur Bridge into the Mahanadi River and disappeared into the deep waters in Odisha’s Sambalpur district on Tuesday morning. A search operation has been launched to trace the man, but so far there is no trace of his whereabouts.
According to reports, an unidentified person came up on the bridge on a scooty and spoke to someone over his mobile phone. Then, he suddenly jumped into the river from the bridge, leaving his mobile phone, sandals, and scooty.
At the time of the incident, many people were taking a morning walk on the bridge. They saw the man jump into the river but could do little to save him.
On being informed, police arrived at the spot and recovered the items left behind by the man on the bridge. At the time of writing this report, the police along with locals have launched a search operation. Later, Fire Services personnel were also engaged in the search operation.
