Unidentified Minor Girl’s Body Recovered From River Mahanadi Near Naraj

Cuttack: Body of a minor girl aged around 8-10 years has been fished out from river Mahanadi near the old Naraj Anicut stone embankment under Barang police limits in Cuttack district on Thursday.

The identity of the minor girl has not been established.

According to reports, today while some fishermen were fishing in the river Mahanadi they noticed the body of a minor girl floating in the water. The fishermen informed the police about the sighting.

On being informed Barang police and Fire Service personnel recovered the body from the river and have sent it for conduct of post mortem.

It is suspected that the minor girl was murdered before her body was dumped into the river.
