Puri: The body of an unidentified young woman has been found on the beach in front of Baliguali under Penthakata Marine police station limits here today.
The woman who was found lying face down is in her underwear and has several marks of bleeding injuries.
The injuries are suspected to be two days old. Police have seized the body. A scientific team of the police has been pressed into service to find out clues on what led to the death of the young woman.
While it is suspected that the woman could have been murdered and dumped by someone, that she could have died due to drowning has not been ruled out.
On the other hand, a young woman from Sagar village of Madhya Pradesh has gone missing since Wednesday (November 23) from a hotel on Chakratirtha Road and remains untraceable.
It is suspected that the body found on the beach in front of Baliguali could be hers.
Inquiry in this regard is underway. Police are planning to send the photograph of the body to the girl’s father in Madhya Pradesh to ascertain if it is of her missing daughter.
