**Bhubaneswar: ** The Unified Command of the State on counter-Maoist strategies on Wednesday decided that the security forces will shift the focus to psychological operations if deemed necessary.
The Command, represented by top police officers, senior officials from administrative departments and Central para military outfits, took up crucial issues pertaining to neutralisation of left-wing extremism (LWE) in the State. It was chaired by Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi.
“The coordination among State Police, Intelligence and Central para-military forces will be the key towards an effective implementation of the anti-Maoist strategies. In this direction, the cooperation, particularly between BSF/CRPF and the Special Operations Group (SOG) will strengthened,” Padhi said.
The Unified Command also took stock of progress of developmental projects in LWE affected districts in the State, apart from rehabilitation schemes initiated by the Government to win confidence of the locals, sources said.
Among others, Police DG Dr RP Sharma, Home Department Secretary Asit Tripathy and senior officials of the Intelligence wing of the State Police attended the meeting.
