Bhubaneswar: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a slew of initiatives to boost tourism in Odisha.
Highlighting the sector’s immense historical and cultural significance, Sitharaman unveiled projects to enhance India’s appeal to international visitors. A key focus area is Odisha, a state renowned for its breathtaking scenery, ancient temples, exquisite craftsmanship, and diverse wildlife.
The central government plans to harness Odisha’s vast tourism potential, developing infrastructure and attractions to draw more visitors and establish the state as a premier tourist hotspot.
“Tourism has always been a part of our civilisation. Our efforts to position India as a global destination will also create jobs and unlock opportunities in other sectors,” she said in her Budget 2024 speech today.
Announcing assistance for the development in Odisha, she said, “We will support tourism in Odisha that has scenic beauty, temples, craftsmanship, natural landscapes, wildlife sanctuaries and pristine beaches.”
This move is expected to provide a significant economic boost to the region and cement India’s status as a must-visit destination on the global tourism map.
