Union Minister Athawale Urges Odisha CM Naveen To Join NDA To Get More Funds From Centre

Bhubaneswar: Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale today urged Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to consider joining National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for getting more funds from the Central government for development.

“Naveen Patnaikji should consider joining the NDA if more funds are needed from Central government for development,” said Athawale addressing a presser here today.

Describing Patnaik as a good friend Athawale pointed out that the former was earlier a Minister in the NDA government.

“Earlier, BJP and his Biju Janata Dal used to have an alliance which doesn’t exist now. It’s okay that they fought the elections separately. I will be very happy if Biju Janata Dal joins NDA,” said Athawale.

The Union Minister said that while there were 10, 24,000 divyangs in the State, only 82,130 are getting pensions.

Giving details of the welfare measures taken by his Ministry for Divyangs, the Union Minister said that it has been decided to raise reservation for Divyangs in jobs from the earlier 3% to 4% and 5% in the field of education.

The Minister stated that the NDA government at the Centre has taken a pledge that by 2022 there will be no kuccha houses in the country and added that funds have been sanctioned to all States for the purpose.

He added that the job will be executed through the State governments.
